People receiving psycho-education approach mental health content from a completely different place than a clinician does.

I hold a BA in Psychology and am currently pursuing a MSc in Clinical Psychology in the Netherlands. This means my understanding of the field goes beyond terminology. I know the context, the intent behind the text and who it is for.

The topics I work across include stress and anxiety, addiction, trauma, loss, financial hardship, depression, suicidal thoughts and a range of psychological conditions. I also work on content covering CBT techniques, mindfulness and other coping strategies. I have worked on the translation of a mindfulness course covering breathing techniques, meditation and mindful movement for a digital mental health platform. 

Tone and audience are always at the centre of my process. I keep the language clear, inclusive and warm. For this kind of community-facing projects, I explain the technical terms where necessary. It is important not to assume that the reader is already familiar with all the terminology. They should feel informed and supported at every step of the way. The goal is to raise awareness, reduce stigma and make mental health content accessible to a wider audience.
